the role of the university through outreach activities in minimizing the impacts of the pandemic

Faced with the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, actions aimed at controlling the disease are part of the social functions of the University. This work aimed to assist the community in which the State University and Minas Gerais Frutal Unit, Mg is inserted, with actions that mitigate the impacts of COVID-19, such as the production of antiseptic solutions, making and distribution of masks and production audiovisual and digital material on topics related to coping with the disease. All aseptic products were made in the laboratories of UEMG, the masks were made in partnership with the Association for the Protection and Assistance to Convicts and distributed to philanthropic institutions that are dedicated to serving the most vulnerable population. It was also made audiovisual by the Agencia Inova of UEMG with the intention of bringing correct information in a simple way of easy assimilation to the general population. This project made it possible to articulate the university with the various organizations of society, contributing to minimize the impacts of the pandemic with the donation of 60 liters of liquid soap, 400 liters of 80% glycerin alcohol, 350 liters of bleach, 300 bars of soap and distribution of 2000 thousand masks, it is estimated that more than 2000 people were benefited with the implementation of the project. Regarding the media activities that were broadcast on local radio stations and made available through social network, the fanpage, so far, has more than 430 followers (up to 8/7), with an average organic reach of 51 thousand people (average 17 thousand people per month).
