Abstract

Brazil is a global world reference in Eucalyptus plantations, with more than 7 million hectares cultivated with species/hybrids of genus. The plantations are made up of high-yield genotypes selected in breeding programs. In general, there are clones selected for different regions across country, in which environmental conditions have a strong influence on the choice of these genotypes. In recent years there has been a decline in productivity, which is attributed to climate change, such as increased temperatures and reduced rainfall. This situation led to the need to reassess the ability of clones to adapt to environments different from those for which they were selected. Eight genotypes selected for different regions were planted in Jaboticabal, SP and at five years of age they were evaluated for stem diameter and wood volume. It was possible to distinguish two groups, with higher (C1, C3, C4, C7 and C8) and lower (C2, C5 and C6) productivity. The fastest growing genotypes correspond to those from regions with a climate like the place where they were planted, showing that they can adapt to this condition. Genotypes with lower productivity (from colder regions would not be suitable for planting in this region.
