Abstract

It has always been known the difficulties of road transport in the northern region of Brazil, a fact that was evidenced with the complexity required in the transport in relation to the battle against COVID-19. Elements such as the poor quality of the roads, the distance from the main industrial centers, the fuel price, and fluvial stretches directly impact the value of the freight. This is the reason why the fractioned freight appears as an alternative for those who seek to reduce the cost of transportation for this region. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the several costs that make up the freight related to road transport in the northern region of Brazil and to verify how the fractioned freight acts in the reduction of transport logistics costs, more specifically to identify the composition of freight for the northern region, to verify how the fractioned freight acts and to study how it can contribute to the reduction of logistics costs. The methodology used for this research was exploratory and descriptive methods based on literature reviews and articles. It is believed that this study has a relevant character and can help in the strategies of transport planning as well as bring opportunities for savings in freight contracting.
